Традиционный ритуал церемонии закрытия. К Президенту МОК на подиуме присоединяются мэр города-организатора Игр и мэр города-организатора следующих Игр для участия в церемонии передачи флага. Мэры городов следуют к подиуму тем же проходом, что и Президент МОК. Мэр города-организатора возвращает Олимпийский флаг Президенту МОК, который в свою очередь торжественно вручает его мэру города-организатора следующих Игр. До церемонии закрытия в городе-организаторе следующих Игр флаг должен находиться в главном муниципальном здании города.

Traditional ritual of of the closing ceremony. The mayors of the host city and next host city join the IOC President on the rostrum for the flag handover ceremony. From the field access to the rostrum, the mayors will take the same path as the IOC President. The mayor of the host city returns the Olympic flag to the IOC President who then passes and entrusts it to the mayor of the host city of the following Olympic Games. This flag must be displayed in the latter city’s main municipal building until the closing ceremony of the next host city’s Olympic Games.

Компонент церемонии закрытия. Сразу после церемонии передачи флага, город-организатор следующих Игр показывают короткую художественную программу, представляющую город проведения следующих Игр. Художественный фрагмент должен передавать приглашение молодежи всего мира прибыть в город-организатор следующих Олимпийских игр. Это приглашение должно быть поддержано незамысловатыми художественными и хореографическими образами. Необходимо тесное сотрудничество и совместная работа ныне действующего и следующего ОКОИ в подготовке художественной программы города-организатора следующих Игр.

Part of the closing ceremony. Immediately after the flag handover ceremony, the next host city presents a brief artistic segment introducing their Games. The artistic segment should focus on extending an invitation to the youth of the world to congregate in the host city of the next edition of the Games, supported by a simple thematic or visual statement. Close cooperation and collaboration between the incumbent and future OCOG in presenting the next host city artistic segment is necessary.
